Crying Devils and Space Cowboys

Man, the DVDs just keep on coming!

Anyway, today from pridestuff and Amazon.co.uk I received.
  • Devil May Cry The Animated Series The Complete Series
  • Cowboy Bebop The Movie
Now I'd be the first to admit that Devil May Cry wasn't an adaptation without its flaws (and boy, it had them alright), but even someone as picky as me is hard-pressed to say no when the chance of owning the entire series for £5.76 comes knocking (seriously, would anyone honestly say no to it at that price?).

The movie of Cowboy Bebop on the other hand; well, that's another story cos the last time Nemmy watched anything Cowboy Bebop related was when CNX were broadcasting the series along with the likes of Outlaw Star and Dragon Ball GT.

I know I can get the series on DVD if I wanted, but not for the price I've seen it listed in the UK.

I'm sorry, even though I adore anime like crazy, I'm not paying a small fucking fortune for it.

So for now, the movie (which I haven't seen yet) will be all I'm getting at this time (as far as the UK release goes anyway, cos who knows? I might think about importing it from elsewhere at a much cheaper price).

Time travel at its bittersweet best

I've been buying a lot of DVDs lately haven't I?

I guess it's because I finally found a way to make my PC multi-region that's given me enough reason to be on the lookout for DVDs (especially if I'm able to find stuff I like at bargain prices).

Anyway, the DVD I got today from fayity was The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Limited Collector's Edition (this one is the HMV exclusive release rather than the recent 2-disc release).

Oh, and it case you were wondering, I didn't pay £20 for this like the label says.

Also, that English title is a tad long for my liking, so I'll be referring to it as TokiKake (the abbreviation of its Japanese title Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo).

I only decided to get this film on a whim cos I learned it was directed by Mamoru Hosoda, who also directed another film I saw fansubbed fairly recently called Summer Wars (which was a damn good film that took me by surprise that's for sure).

I've already watched the film and I can say with ease that TokiKake was a nice change from the usual anime I tend to watch, and this fact alone made it a very worthwhile purchase.

What can be better than free LEGO?

Today's edition of bragging was brought to you by the Daily (and Sunday) Mirror (because they had some free toys to give-away).

Yeah, so in addition to the carry box, play-mat and stickers, I also got these.
  • LEGO Racers 7801 Rally Racer
  • LEGO Racers 7802 Le Mans Racer
  • LEGO Racers 30030 Tiny Turbo Rally Raider
  • LEGO Racers 30033 Truck
  • LEGO Racers 30034 Tow truck
  • LEGO Racers 30035 Off Road Racer 2
These were rather simple to build, but also very fun to do as well (and the fact they were free made the deal even sweeter).

It had to happen sometime

Yo, this is another edition of 'Nemmy couldn't be bothered to do these items separately' (or it might be more truthful to say that Nemmy was too engrossed in watching his Ghost in the Shell DVDs).

But what the hell, I'm here now aren't I?

Anyway, the first item which arrived on Monday was from all your music, and it was the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Season 1.1 4-DVD Set.

Item number two arrived yesterday from overman2k_usa, and it was the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Season 1.2 4-DVD Set.

And the final item arrived today from supermart_usa, and it was the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Season 1.3 4-DVD Set.

I took the chance to buy these boxsets cos the only real exposure I've ever had to the old G.I. Joe cartoon was the animated movie, so there's one reason right there.

Nemmy has his Stand Alone Complex

Like my ThunderCats boxset, these first two items arrived yesterday, but unlike before I thought it'd make more sense to do it this way.

The first shipment of DVD boxsets were from Amazon.co.uk and direct_offers_uk.
  • Ghost in the Shell 2.0/Innocence Movie Double Bill
  • Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. The Trilogy Collection
I've already watched the 2.0 (and the original release on Disc 2 for comparison) and Innocence movies last night (along most of the extras included).

The Stand Alone Complex DVDs can wait until I've watched...

These DVD boxsets I got today from indie_dvds_direct.
  • Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Complete 1st GIG Boxset
  • Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG Complete 2nd GIG Boxset
I'll probably start watching a few episodes today, but I might get waylaid by other things I have in the pipeline (like the MangaGamer release of Edelweiss Eiden Fantasia tomorrow).

Going retro with ThunderCats

Well, this first item actually arrived yesterday, but I couldn't be arsed to do another post at the time.

It came from Amazon.co.uk, and it was the ThunderCats The Complete Collection.

ThunderCats was a series I loved watching as a kid, and I now get to relive those memories with this 24 DVD boxset.

And then today, I received these from commander_nate, Play.com and mrs-boothroyds-holiday-dancer.
  • G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Courtney "Cover Girl" Krieger
  • Iron Man Ultimate 2-Disc Edition
  • T2: The Ultimate Edition DVD
So yeah, I have yet another G.I. Joe figure and some more DVDs to watch.

What kind of name is Helix?

A new toy arrived today from commander_nate.

It was the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Agent Helix Covert Operations.

And I have to say that I'm really digging this figure.

Her design looks ace, her weapons have that futuristic vibe, and she doesn't have any noticeable issues either.

One could say this is a nigh-on perfect figure in my eyes.

First some toys, and then a movie

Some more G.I. Joe stuff arrived for me from Amazon.co.uk, claudiasfabstore23 and Gizzmo Heaven.

What I received today was the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra DVD and two figures of Shana "Scarlett" O'Hara in Desert Ambush and Covert Operations flavours.

I can't comment on the DVD as this'll be the first time I've seen anything regarding the movie since watching this trailer.

And as of this moment, the two Scarlett figures are easily becoming a favourite because I've had less of an issue with them than Baroness (both Paris Pursuit and Attack on the G.I. Joe Pit) and the H.I.S.S. Commander.

That being said, I still can't bring myself to like those oversized missile launchers.

Get yourself a H.I.S.S. Tank, huh?

Today's arrival from metalwar2010 carries a very heavy proclamation of "I blame Matt!" all over it.

Which leads me to this aforementioned 'after-effect' known as the G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary Cobra H.I.S.S. with Cobra H.I.S.S. Commander.

So yeah, Nemmy is now the oh so proud owner of a H.I.S.S. Tank (DAMN YOU, TIME LORD!!!).

Anyway, time for some thoughts on it.

For my first G.I. Joe vehicle, it doesn't strike me as something to be overly impressed by. Sure, it looks unique enough and has a certain level of charm to it, but that's about it really.

Seriously, what else can I say about a black brick with a cockpit on solid treads?

The little driver dude is an alright figure, but the legs on mine are very floppy and he doesn't like to sit in the sodding cockpit without having a struggle with the gun holster on his right leg!

This is truly a day for Masterpieces

Welcome to another day's worth of bragging from yours truly.

The first parcel to arrive was from Fan2Fan, and it contained the following.
  • Masterpiece MP-8X King Grimlock
  • Masterpiece MP-1B Convoy Black Ver. x2
  • Masterpiece MP-1B Convoy Black Ver. e-Hobby comic Vol.01 x2
  • figma Mikuru Asahina Fighting Waitress Ver.
  • figma Tsuruya-san Culture Festival Maid Ver.
  • figma Canaan
  • Revoltech Gurren & Lagann

Then a few hours later I got this G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Baroness Attack on the G.I. Joe Pit from Helgy toYs.

Compared to the Baroness I got yesterday, I'm liking this one a bit more (but I'm still not sold on these G.I. Joe figures entirely yet).

Oh, and before Nemmy goes, he may as well show that someone's prediction in him owning four Masterpiece Black Convoys finally came true.

Which means Nemmy can now have one in vehicle mode, one in robot mode, one to keep MISB, and another as a spare just for the hell of it!

My whimsical nature has struck again!

I knew this would happen, I just knew it! I always get caught by spur of the moment whims!

Well, there's no use in bitching about it now when this is only the beginning of these type of purchases (I'm expecting more in the coming days).

Now lets return to the reason for this post.

Today brought me two goodies from 4480andy and claudiasfabstore23.

The first item is the LEGO Town 6594 Gas Transit, which is the same one I mentioned when I got my Tank Truck a few days ago.

This little tanker was originally given to me by my nan as a Birthday/Christmas present in 1992.

It was a nice fun toy that gave me loads of enjoyment until the fateful day when my mum tripped and fell over right on top of it (I still hold a slight grudge with her about that!).

The second item is the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Baroness Paris Pursuit.

This purchase is just one of the 'after-effects' from when I was looking-up pictures of the H.I.S.S. Tank to make a little something showcasing the torment of a certain Time Lord (although its kinda redundant now because he now has a H.I.S.S. Tank).

Anyway, as for the figure itself, I'm in two-minds about it.

I do like the figure, but that lower coat piece pisses me off because I find it hinders the articulation of her legs (its just too damn restricting dammit!).

That, and the included missile launcher thingy is oversized and retarded looking as hell!

Nemmy has rekindled his past interest in LEGO

Like the title says, I've gone and bought my first piece of LEGO in over 10 years (the last one I remember getting was the LEGO Star Wars 7131 Anakin's Podracer).

Funnily enough, this LEGO City 3180 Tank Truck I got from Amazon.co.uk is like a modern update of the LEGO Town 6594 Gas Transit I used to have 18 years ago (man, just knowing that makes me feel fucking old).

I don't know if this will begin a trend of me buying more LEGO in the future, but this would have been what started it.

I also went to the trouble of taking this shot so you can see that I've already built the Tank Truck.

My final thoughts on it?

The cab is easily the main draw here cos it really showed to me just how far LEGO vehicles have progressed since my younger years.
